minimalism

in addition to making me feel like i need to put on foundation immediately, this image from classic elite's new "picnic" booklet, makes me want to pick up my languishing needles and get smocking. not since bonnie have i felt the urge to smock so strongly. but forget about all that for a moment and look at how brilliantly this look works, basically by not "working" at all. it is completely devoid of accessories. the flawlessly fresh, minimally made up face with just a hint of color on the lips and the plaited updo are all that's needed to complement the detail in the neutral-hued sweater. this is truly a study in restraint that proves that the new less isn't just more. it's fabulous.

I love that top, but this picture really just reinforces my new obsession with getting a croquet set and then getting drunk with friends while playing croquet on a hot summer day....

ha! i did say devoid of accessories...but of course you could consider a mallet a proper accessory. particularly when paired with a chilled glass of pinot grigio. or PBR as the case may be.

When I saw the photo on the back cover of Interweave Knits, I wondered if she was going to haul off and hit the photographer!

glad you like our styling! a croquet mallet and red lipstick—what more does a girl need?

carrie, no wonder i like that image so much...it's the maine seacoast, isn't it? my brother and his girlfriend live in thomaston and i have had many opportunities to explore the beauties of that wonderful state's coastline. and, i had no idea you did the styling for classic elite! speaking of style, big ups to you on your new venture with pam allen. how exciting! will certainly be watching your blog for more developments on this :)
