welsh rarebit

it's not a giant scrunchy. or a beached sea urchin. rather, it is a bit of welsh ingenuity from the knitters of flocks. their funky flash site is the perfect showcase for their unique designs, handspun and knit from the wool of rare sheep and rabbits. dig deep and you'll be treated to a few hidden nuggets, including a fun scan of a how-to-knit page from a vintage knitting book.

Kate -- Maybe this is crazy talk, but when I clicked thru to that site and saw that the "sea urchin" was really a "pouf" or hassock or ottoman, my first thought was: "I must make that!" Do you think if we held Twinkle Soft Chunky double or triple we could get that kind of gauge?!!? Thanks so much for leaving a comment on my blog -- I've somehow screwed up the back end of Blogger so at this point I can't approve any comments, but it was great to hear from you! : ))

I saw sweaters by flocks in a fancy design magazine about a year ago and thought they were pretty cool, but the urchin chair and the rugs are amazing. Thanks for posting!
