valentine hugs
some people buy roses for valentine's day. a bunch of us decided to knit 40 scarves.
and then get up verrrrry early on this blustery valentine morning and hang them up on streetlights and bus shelters along main street in downtown rochester.
our hope: that they'll provide some much-needed warmth in the middle of the biggest snowstorm in four years.
just as we were finishing, we saw a man quietly walk up to one, untie it, and tuck it into his pocket.

Oh you are so awesome!
that is the most darling thing ever.
I drove down Main Street just to see them 6 hours later and there were still a few there, their little heart-cut tags blowing in the snow flakes. So fun!

You're an amazing woman!!
Wow! What an amazing idea! I've heard of knitters who stockpile scarves for random gift giving before, but never in a manner as thougtful and spontaneous as this.
Now I have something to look forward to next Valentine's Day ('cause I'm gonna copy -- how could I not?)
Thanks!
