wip: nora gaughan shrug
just finished casting on for my first pentagon. i even used my fancy swarovsky stitch markers, created especially for me by one of the most talented knitters i know. they're so pretty, i've even worn them on some gold hoop earrings.
arrrrrrrgh addendum:
in my haste to begin, i mistakenly cast on too few stitches. of course, i didn't detect my error until after i finished stitching up my four-legged pentagon. later on this evening, i recast and finished pentagon numero uno. as the pattern says, these little suckers are great fun to knit--and not nearly as complex as they appear. my advice thus far: take a deep breath before you cast on.

I can't wait to see the progress. I fell in love with that shrug the moment I saw it, but no near plans in the future as of yet to knit it.
I can't wait to see it, too! I love the look of the pentagons, and I have dreams of knitting up a not-so-cropped version of the cardi.
Looks gorgeous so far! Just like a perfect wintry snowflake. . . .
oooh kate, it's bea-U-tiful! i have been thinking of trying this in a pale ice-blue, and slightly longer. lovely.
I shall live vicariously through your progress, as yet I long to knit this, I have immediate plans to actually wear something like this. The pattern is gorgeous however.
PS - I go to RIT and knit like a crazy fiend. Do have any info on the Lux knitting group? I would love to meet up with other ladies in Rachacha who of the knitterly persuasion.
I love this piece. I know it'll look stunning on you. x
This looks wonderful. I can't wait to see it when it's finished.
looks great! I'm with expat, wanna see it when you're done! It's on my list of to-do's (but longer)
looks like a little sea-creature
oh bravo! its stunning. Can't wait to see it done!
Fantastic! It's even beautiful just as it is!
oooo I love it. I am starting this one for my client as soon as the yarn comes in next week! can't wait. For now I will live vicariouisly through you.
Your start looks great. Cant wait to see it finished, its a gorgeous jacket
I am in love with this one too. It is just gorgeous. You might just inspire me to make it.
I am so excited to see this one knit up. It is really unique and stunning. Yours looks great so far.
I'm in lust with this! Glad to see someone started work on this... I cannot wait to start it myself!!!
I love this pattern! When I first saw the cover of the new Vogue, I said to myself, that patter has to be Norah Gaughan. I was so pleased with myself when I looked inside and sure enough it is! NG just keeps getting better!
I'll be stalking your blog to see your progress.
I just got the yarn for this one... I can't wait to start it, but I have to wait to start it until I finish the back of my husband's sweater. It's a New Year thing. But I'm so eager to start the bolero that striking this deal may just have worked.
I am finishing the second sleeve on this, and will be working on the midriff area as I want it to be longer. My family thinks the pic looks like a "bra with a collar"...
It is beautiful out of Cashmere Dreams, a 20% cashmere and merino sport weight. I've had fun with the pattern.
