these two diddies were under the tree yesterday morning. props to jimmy for picking them out all by his lonesome.
i must say, both are beautifully designed, photographed, and produced.
the knit journal is a bit contrived for my taste. but i surely will make use of the blank graph pages. and i'm sure the needle inventory and gauge will come in handy.
alterknits is gorgeous to look at, but there wasn't one thing in there i felt a burning desire to knit. i applaud leah radford's creativity in seeing the world through a knitter's eyes. but come on. a SCREEN? as if.

I agree on your take of Alter Knits. I've been wanting this book for sooo long, every time I go to the book store I look at it longingly....but I ALWAYS opt for something different. It's more of a coffee table book so you can look cool...but in a real life setting...who's going to really knit a dorky crown??
Ditto on Alter Knits, still, it's one I feel would be definitely nice to have.
I...have a knit journal. It's handy, what can I say? I keep notes in it, do math on it, started to fill out the needle tracker. It's nice.
I got AlterKnits for Christmas, too. I like it for the atypical projects in it - gets my brain thinking outside my usual knitting box. I can see knitting a crown for a kid, actually! But I'm with you on the screen. That's too far out of the box for me. :)
