just when you think knitting can't get much geekier, it hits you. behold: from fellow raveler davejenbarnes, quite possibly the geekiest knitting tip out there. and i mean that in such a good way.

it appears to the untrained eye to be an ordinary lamp with the bulb removed and the shade turned upside down, outfitted with an upturned laundry basket and set atop a lazy susan. what, pray tell, could this be, one queries with furrowed brow. but, ahhh, when one puts on one's extreme knitting geek goggles, one begins to see the ingenuity, the invention, the sheer brilliance of it all...

...your own DIY swift!
ha! too clever~!
ReplyDeleteunbelievably brilliant. if only the no knitting world knew what a sagacious people we are...
ReplyDelete*genius*
ReplyDeleteAh! Very impressive!
ReplyDeleteThis puts my homemade niddy noddy to shame. I used two dowels, two nails and some sandpaper.
Genius! I cannot wait for my Ravelry invite to arrive..
ReplyDeleteSo.freaking.awesome.
ReplyDeleteWow.
Holy shit! That's brilliant!
ReplyDeleteBRILLIANT!!!
ReplyDelete...And to think that I spent all that time trying to wrap the rollers on the back of my small swivel office chair with seran wrap, for a diy swift.
ReplyDeleteThis is just like buying something and finding it on sale a couple days later. lol.
yes, brilliant. i need one of these! the time i spend wrapping by hand around the backs of side by side chair. i love this.
ReplyDeleteBloody brilliant!
ReplyDeleteamazing find. knitters can certainly be ingenious.
ReplyDeleteThank you for that!
ReplyDeleteOMG, I wish i would have seen this before I bought my swift. Well I know if my swift ever breaks, i'll never have to buy another.
ReplyDeleteTnx for the spotlight!
That is brilliant! I have a ball winder but have resisted buying a swift--one more piece of stuff to store. This is a wonderful solution.
ReplyDeleteIt is so funny that the yarn you have it in is Bonsai because I just bought some and rolled it up and both times they got so tangled!!
