fo: twinkle best friend cardigan

twinkle knits can be a bit deceiving. yes, they knit up fast, but don't get too cocky. these suckers are particularly devilish in the details. of course, that is also the charm of ms. chia's elegant, fitted designs. trad details such as english shoulders and bobbled cables are suddenly mod when crafted on fat needles with fat yarn. but keep your wits about you. each stitch is like the type in those large-print books: you can read every word from about 10 feet away. yes, it's a quick read, but watch out for those typos.

knit in canary twinkle soft chunky on US19 circs. i used about 3.5 balls to make the small size. i found the 45mm off-white buttons at my lys. be aware, clown buttons like these are not easy to come by. m&j trim carries them, but were out of the color i wanted. i couldn't find a single other source, though ebay could be hit or miss.

That turned out wonderful! I'm always slightly afraid that I'm a bit too tall to knit so bulky, but your FO makes me optimistic- in no way do you look like a yeti. Great job!

That looks so great on you! I love the color and the buttons...
I wish I was smaller so that I could make some of the gorgeous stuff in her book and not emit beached whale vibes...

that cardigan is a stunner. i especially love the pretty yellow shade it's knit up in. and you look so chic in all of twinkle's knits. i'm jealous. there is no way i could ever pull of any of those looks from the book without looking like The Great Big BLOB!

I LOVE it, can I be a bit personal and ask you what dress size you are (I am a brit if you know in brit terms great!!) The reason I ask is, I am a UK12 with quite big boobs and I really love these designs but I am far too scared to try them incase I look huge in them

Wow--it's so great! Yellow is really the spring color to wear this year--I can't stop buying it even though it's not really my color. Can't wait to see it in person.

It looks great on you - who'd have thought that chunky yarns can look sexy?!

Oh, I'm lovin' it even more? Could you share the size you knit as to fitting well? I'm a 34 bust and thinking I'd need to add a few stitches in. Thanks!

my bust is 37" but i'm fairly petite otherwise (32" under bust and i am 5-foot-one...so, i'm pretty short-waisted) and usually buy a small size in t-shirts and such. you have to figure on some ease in the garment and i think these garments are designed to fit on the snug side. i think you want it to be fitted so that you're not swimming in chunkiness. that said, i'd have preferred a bit more ease in the bust in this particular twinkle design. for the shopping tunic, on the other hand, i made the small and it was fine. so it's kinda hit or miss. hope that helps!

Yes, you are spot on about those Chia knits...and so addictive to knit! I can't stop!

I had wondered what her designs look like on regular people, and I must say that you look smashing. Great colour and style. I'm not crazy about the bobbles, never have been, but that is me. Enjoy.

Hi, Kate! Bravo!!! Your sweater turned out amazingly (and you're absolutely right about paying attention to each and every stitch -- giving a little "extra gas" to a stitch can result in a droopy, loopy hole). Is there another Twinkle sweater on your horizon?

Another thought, in response to the commenter from the UK -- I find that Twinkle garments have most excellent boob-smushing properties, and that instead of enlarging a large bust, Wenlan's designs work like a minimizing bra to kind of flatten and smoosh. The same thing cannot be said for Twinkle garments and a pudgy tummy -- as I found, unfortunately, upon trying on a nearly completed Twinkle Shopping Tunic.

of course there is another one linda! i got the yarn for the groovy sweater dress last week : )and i'd love to make the balthazar vest and the hamptons halter...so much twinkle, so little time!

I am working on the same sweater now and am having a difficult time trying to figure out this jumbled pattern. If it is not too much trouble, could you post a picture of the back of your sweater? I am at a little bit of a road block.
