twinkle dust
i have so much to blab about. just got back from a knitting roadtrip to nyc. but more on that later. right now i have to show you my first twinkle FO, the shopping tunic. my biggest, bulkiest fear was that i would look ridiculous with a big bulky cowl in front of my big bulky boobies. but i think it's gonna be okay. the heels seem to hoist everything up and i'm hoping the narrow jeans slenderize the line a bit. i refuse to believe twinkle is just for girls with model-sized boobies! (not that there's anything wrong with that.) i also kinda like it with the belt. still have to block, but overall, i'm pretty excited about this.
random notes: the pattern called for seven hanks of the twinkle soft chunky for all of the sizes; i used just three for the small... i made the cowl two inches shorter... i knit with the sweater in my lap for three hours and ended up with kelly green twinkle dust all over me... the fabric created with size US19s is very stretchy... on the needles, the tunic seemed to be impossibly long, but the length was fine when i actually put it on.

It's hot with the skinny jeans and heels. Very very now and hip.
Love it -- it's very modern and the color is great!
I really like it, it looks great with the skinny jeans.
That looks so cool! What will you need with that much leftovers?
looks fantastic! good to see your note on the yarn yardage too. do you think Lamb's Pride Bulky would be a comprable yarn to the Twinkle? I haven't seen her yarn in person yet... congrats on finishing so quickly!
You look fantastic! As previously discussed, like you, I am no waif with a concave chest, and seeing the Shopping Tunic on you totally makes me want to knit one for myself. I love how you paired it with skinny jeans and heels; due to my advanced middle-age, I'd wear mine over a long-sleeved clingy t-shirt, with Danskos for that much-needed leg-lengthening effect. To answer another commenter's question -- Brown Sheep Burlyspun is considered by many to be a substitute for the Twinkle yarn. I started on the vest from the Twinkle book before my shop's Soft Chunky came in, and while you may be able to get gauge with the Burlyspun, it's definitely a heavier, more compacted yarn than the Soft Chunky, and finished garments will therefore be heavier and less light and lofty. Now that my shop has its Twinkle Soft Chunky, I wouldn't use the Burlyspun again. I'd love to see more pics of you in the tunic, Kate -- preferably ones not taken from a moving bullet train. ; )))))
Wow Kate, it looks every better since Friday night! I love it with skinny jeans and heels. I REALLY love it with the belt. It looks so great on you! I'm definately going to have to knit one for myself this spring. Can't wait to see your next one. The green looks great!
I meant to say that it looks "even better" not "every better!" Typing too fast...
That is CUTE! It looks great with the skinny jeans and heels.
Girl, I am in AWE! Super freaking cute! And if you only used 3 skeins, I am so buying it, so afterall it's not a rip-off for the price of the yarn!
That green is TOO fabulous!!!!!!! I'm almost done with my Best Friend Cardigan, and I'm guessing I'll only need about 4 skeins.
hey i know those shoes! its looks great on you! you sound happy with too!
This is so fab! I'm impressed- it's the first FO I've seen from the Twinkle book and gives me high hopes.
Nice job. You look great in it. Can you comment on how the yarn is wearing. I have used Cascase Magnum as a substitute before Twinkle came out.
Now that I have felt the Twinkle yarn it is light and lofty, almost unspun. I have concerns about how it wears over time.
Looks great! The stretch factor in Twinkle yarn will make it hard to substitute, yes?
Hm. I may have to reconsider this pattern after seeing yours. It looks fabulous!
YOWSA - sizzlin!
crap, now i want to make it. and in green too.
Thanks.a.lot. :)
damn, that's awfully cute.
it's adorable. natch! tres illustrious, as per usual.
very hot. nice call on the skinny jeans.
So I'm a smurf and you're a starbucks cup! I think the green is fabulous, but hey, we're our own worst critcs. Despite all the positivity I'm getting towards my best friend cardi, I only see it as my smurf sweater. And yes, you guessed correctly, my shopping tunic is in the Urchin colorway.
Hi! That's fabulous. I've checked this book out twice from the library and now I'm ready to make something. I love this on you. It's super looking. And more importantly, what a big tip about the amount of skeins. I mean, wow, I want to make the cardigan but 7 skeins is like $180 or more... so maybe yeah, I can make it with a little less. I wonder why the difference was so big. Anyhoo, thanks for the pix, very inspiring!
Interesting article you got here. I'd like to read a bit more concerning that matter. Thanx for posting that data.
