acryl-a-rino?

i just heard the strangest rumour about debbie bliss cashmerino at knit club tonight. someone said a lady at one of the local yarn shops claims there is no cashmere in d.bliss cashmerino...that it is actually (gasp!) acrylic. has anyone else heard anything about this? i gotta say, cashmere or not, i love cashmerino. not that i think it's right to say cashmere and use acrylic instead, mind you. but the stuff comes in a great color palette and knits up beautifully.

A cashmere/acrylic bait and switch would be the ultimate knitting scandal, wouldn't it?

You were at knitting club?!

It's true - I think. I just checked my Baby Cashmerino ball band: 12% cashmere BLEND (so, it could be 1% cashmere blended with 11% acrylic)!

well, i have a ball of 100% cashmere and a ball of cashmerino - cashmerino only feels a tiny bit les soft and incredible than the real deal...so if that is being faked with a lot of acrylic then they deserve 3 cheers and a standing ovation for making acrylic feel so right ;).

The local yarn shops are correct, there's been substantial testing and it has proved that there is 0 cashmere in the Cashmerino. This is a violation of labeling laws and may actually lead to FTC investigations.
